~ NCS from the Students' Point of View ~
Ambassador Archives is the student-run newspaper of Norfolk Christian Schools. It informs the public, in this case students, teachers, and faculty, of what is happening in the school, community, and world. It is an extracurricular club that meets in Ms. Posch's room about once a week. Most of the articles on this website are unaffected by the writer's personal opinions and beliefs. The newspaper displays a wide range of talents like writing, photography, graphic design, etc. Therefore, there is a position for every individual preference. If any students at NCS are quarantined, the school newspaper can bring them up to date on school events. Participating in the newspaper is a perfect opportunity for students who want to explore journalism or communication in college and beyond.

WHY HAVE A NEWSPAPER?Bella Cady, Co-Founder | December 13, 2021
The idea of starting a school newspaper came about last year, when we returned after the lockdown from COVID. I thought it would be a good idea to have some way to communicate events within the school to more people than just parents. Since most people weren’t able to attend games or events due to the pandemic, there should be a way for people to know what’s happening in our community, such as sports, fine arts, clubs, and different events.
Although we have weekly emails to inform parents, the school needs something directed towards students and alumni. What better way to hear about NCS than from the students themselves? In addition to the practicality of a student newspaper, it is also a great opportunity for students who have a passion for writing, for they can demonstrate their skills and contribute to the school community. Photographers and graphic designers have a key role, supplying the newspaper with beautiful photos and a brand new logo! |
As the newspaper came into fruition, it has received a lot of support from staff, including Mrs. Crapanzano, the club supervisor. The writers, photographers, and graphic designers from all grades in the Upper School get together a couple of times a month to brainstorm ideas for relevant, engaging articles. The vision for the newspaper is that it will continue for years to come, enabling people to expand upon their passion for journalism. Being a part of the newspaper team can help you try out a variety of writing styles and different topics.
I am so excited to see what the future holds for the Ambassador Archives. I’d like to thank the whole newspaper team for sharing their talents to get the newspaper up and running. Also, a very special shout out to Jordyn Balam for organizing the applications, meetings, and technology. If it weren’t for her, we probably wouldn’t have made as much progress in a short amount of time. Please enjoy as you read the other articles and admire the amazing photos.
